The GTRank FAQThis document tries to answer the most frequently asked questions about GTRank. Many, if not most questions will / can be answered by the GPLRank FAQ at gplrank.schuerkamp.de. Why isn't this great track listed? If you know a great track that you think is worthy of being added to GTRank, send us email stating the exact track name from your Career.blt file and some good reference times to use for the GT and NGT classes. Make sure to also include a download location / URL for the track so the admins can check it out for themselves. For your convenience there is a Track List button on the home page navigation menu that will take you to the GTRank add on track site, kindly provided by Tyf.What's this handicap thingy? For the complete details, please check the gplrank faq. Don Scurlock came up with the handicap idea back in the days when GPL was still new. Take all of the replay laps provided by simbin on the original tracks, add up the lap times, then do the same for your fastest lap on each of the circuits and subtract the simbin "handicap" from your total, there's your handicap. Please be aware that simply completing a "Championship" season will not give you a rank as Simbin uses the "24Spa" track for the Championship and GTRank uses the "Spa" track.I have a warp lap, way too fast! should you find yourself ahead of the competition by ten seconds or so, open your Career.blt file in a text editor like notepad.exe or emacs, and simply delete the offending [Trackstats] entry.Where did my fastest laps go? In its current implementation (2004/11/20), GTR saves your best lap achieved in any session when you exit, even it that means overwriting an even *faster* lap from a previous session. We consider this a nasty bug which has to fixed by SimBin for the "official" world wide release early 2005, so if this feature is important to you get in touch with 10tacle support and let them know!I need more selection options! Don't worry, they will come, like selection by country, class and so on. Remember this is an early alpha version.I got a warning: "Unknown Track" or "Unknown Car"! This means that a car or track in your Career.blt file hasn't been added to GT Rank yet. Please drop a line to gtrank@gplrank.info and we'll consider adding the track or car in question to GTRank. Why is going negative in the NGT class at Oschersleben so easy? Apparently, the reference lap provided by SimBin for the NGT class at Oschersleben was driven in the Lotus Elise which by no means is the fastest NGT car out there by any stretch of the imagination. If you have a better suggestion what to use as a reference lap, feel free to contact us.Why do you even bother about improving GTRank when GTR is so buggy? Even if it's buggy in its current state or form, we simply cannot stop driving GTR at the moment. When we're not busy driving GTR, we're busy hacking GTRank, so there must be something special about this sim! ;-)Eeer, this is FIA GT, endurance racing, hey? It's not about hotlapping! So? We all know (or should, rather) that in order to finish first, you first have to finish. We do believe that a person's fastest lap time will give you a general idea of his or her capability in a FIA (N)GT car, even if it cannot be extended to a full 2h30m race distance.I love this stuff! How can I help? We're looking for people who can spare a minute or two to help with deleting warp laps (simple, web based clicking stuff). Also, if you know Zope, Python and Solaris to be more than a novel by Stanislav Lem, you're welcome to help with GTRank development. Get in touch at gtrank@gplrank.info and we'll get back to you! |
