Season 7: St. Jovite
The final event of the season 7 saw the Screamers Racing League descend on the lovely racetrack of St. Jovite in Mt. Tremblant, Canada.
Only champion Eric Sheehan had a slight chance to intercept points leader Paul Godfrey, with Don McCorkle in third already having settled for his first overall championship podium finish.
Also, a three-driver tie for fourth place between Rich Hromin, Randy Riggs and Uwe Schürkamp promised for an interesting season finale.
While Hromin was unable to attend, Riggs and Schürkamp fought tooth and nail during the 36-lap event which posed the longest ever race in Screamers six year history, lasting an hour and six minutes!
The league now takes a well-deserved summer break to reform later in Summer 2003, with a possibly changed race and league format.
Randy Riggs will take over from parting admin Simon Goodwin who sadly dropped out of the race during the early stages. We wish him well!

Simon leaves for good
Probably the saddest event of the whole race was parting admin Simon Goodwin drop out during the first laps with a blown engine in his Cooper running sixth.
The league wishes him well, and hopefully we'll see him compete again with the Screamers soon! Farewell Simon, and thanks for everything you did for us!

Goddwin getting air
In lap 18 after a slight error into T1, Goodwin's Lotus hits the guardrails, with Riggs' Ferrari unable to avoid and launching Goodwin into the air.
Apparently, Goodwin was able to continue, but put the field through a dangerous moment later as a result from (possible) damage to the suspension.

Half a lap later, after colliding with the Ferrari of Randy Riggs, Lotus driver Dave Goodwin gets sideways and spins in the Esses.

Another close encounter
After several laps caught behind the slower Honda of Schürkamp, Riggs tries to get alongside again, only to drop out of the race a couple of hundred yards later.
Schürkamp later said that this was the "biggest fight I have ever put up on a race track."
Riggs and Schürkamp were direct competitors on equal points for 4th position in the championship standings.

With over 60 seconds in the lead from 2nd place Eric Sheehan and final podium finisher Don McCorkle, Paul Godfrey proceeds to take the chequered flag, the race win and the championship of Season 7, after a flawless drive in the BRM.
Congrats Paul!
