Dave has spent most of his life living in Altrincham,
which is a town south of Manchester and just a few miles from Old Trafford
- home of Manchester United www.manutd.com,
without doubt the greatest football team in all the land. His very first
experience of racing games was in the early 1980's with Chequered Flag on
the Sinclair ZX Spectrum but it was very basic.
However the start of true sim racing came with the purchase of a PC, a copy
of Indy 500 by Papyrus and a yoke. Many hours would be spent improving the
setup of the car and racing to win. Retirement was a consideration when
a four lap lead was thrown to the wall after 198 laps of a full 200 lap
race. Following a Mansell/Hill type u-turn he decided to carry on racing
and soon a win was forthcoming.
Dave was well and truly hooked. More than a dozen games, four controllers
and numerous upgrades later, GPL arrives on the scene and raises the level
of simulation to new heights. Less than a week after his first taste of
on-line racing he starts competing in the second season of the Screamers
League and has a great time (nerve-racking though it was). When Dave isn't
at work (accounting) he enjoys the obligatory F1 (regular viewer since 1984),
Champ Cars, British Touring Cars and World Super bikes.
Away from the track there is Manchester United and he loves listening to
music - current favorites include The Cranberries www.cranberries.com,
The Cardigans cardigans.net and Sheryl
Crow (or anything beginning with 'C' I guess ;) The two sites mentioned
are particularly good examples of official band web sites.
