General

The Screamers is a hideous dictatorship ruled by a power-mad control freak who changes rules and guidelines on a whim and would not hesitate to chastise entire families to keep members in line. Races are every other Saturday and are approximately 40-50 minutes in length. Championship points will be awarded as follows:

PositionPoints
1 10
2 8
3 6
4 5
5 4
6 3
7 2
8 1

An extra point is awarded for pole position and fastest race lap.

Please meet in TeamSpeak before practise starts in order to get everybody organized. TeamSpeak Server details will be posted before every race in the "race reminder" email.

Last minute changes (hopefully not very many;-) will be announced there, and it's a good place to get to know everybody apart from the race server.

In order to minimize distractions, absolutely no speaking or text chatting during qualifying or race sessions is allowed until the last driver has crossed the finish line. Ignoring this rule may earn you a kicking from the race server. You will not be allowed back on the server until the session from which you were kicked has finished (especially qualifying).

Chatting in practise and warmup sessions is fine and actively encouraged.

The Race

Race Time: bi-weekly on Saturdays (check the Schedule).

  • 15:00 GMT: Practise start, about 40 minutes (10:40 EST)
  • 15:45 GMT: Qualifying session voted by admin, around 15 minutes in length
  • 5 minutes warmup (check your setup & fuel load)
  • 16:00 GMT (approx.): Race Start, 40-45 minutes (11:00 EST)

Please do your best to drive courteously and safely. There will be no re-starts except in the event of a fatal server crash or mass disco in which case an attempt will be made to re-start or to move the event to a back-up server - the event will be re-scheduled as required.
  • Penalties: Drivers are expected to stop for game imposed black flags. If you find yourself involved in any of the situations described below, and think you may be at fault, you are required to take a self imposed stop-and-go in the pits within three laps of the incident. Self imposed stop-and-go penalties cannot be combined with pitstops or damage repair, so do not take a self imposed stop-and-go in your pit stall. If something occurs on the last lap you are still required to stop before crossing the start/finish line so make sure you are familiar with the pit entrance and the start line for each track. Any driver who fails to impose a stop-and-go penalty on themselves for an obvious infraction will be DQ'd from the event and lose ALL earned points.

    • Hit from Behind: any rear-end collision with enough force to put another car out of control or knock them off the track. You will not be considered 'at fault' if you strike a car which is either very slow-moving or out of control in some manner.
    • Off-Track: any track re-entry which causes an accident (even by altering a drivers' line). Remember, if you are hit when re-entering the track.. you are at fault! This applies to leaving pit stalls as well.
    • Spins: if you are stopped on the track (after a spin, etc.), you are required to remain in place (brake on) until ALL visible/audible traffic has passed. This category includes any movement which causes contact or accidents [the only exception is if you happen to be facing the right direction and can move off without becoming a greater obstacle. In general, a car that is moving away from a stationary position must yield the right of way to any car that is already moving
Please note that a stop-and-go penalty may be waived if the perpetrator allows his victim to regain position within two laps and no damage has been done. Any driver that receives two DQ's will receive a one-race suspension. The judging panel retains the right to make arbitrary decisions in extenuating circumstances.
Post-Race
Drivers are required to save race results and replays and retain them for 48 hours. Drivers are obligated to report racing incidents via e-mail within four hours of the race finish should they feel that a penalty needs to be handed out to the offending driver.
  • Incident Reviewing and Resolution. In the event that race incidents in need of review are reported after the race, it is the obligation of all drivers who participated in the race, who weren't involved in the particular incident, to review the incidents in question and offer their opinions on fault. A "Race Steward Commission" consisting of three drivers not involved in the incident in question will be selected randomly and contacted by private email by the Screamers Fairy. Any penalties if applicable will be based on the majority opinion of those three stewards unless our Benevolent Dictator deems otherwise.

Podium finishers are kindly asked to respond to post-race interview questions in a timely manner.

Please create an account on rFactor Rank if you haven't already done so and upload your laptimes so we have a means of comparing our relative performances.
